GOVERNMENT STRUCTURES NEED REDEMPTION

The structures of government in South Sudan are in dire need of redemption and the Churches should be more active in the nation building process.

This is the view Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba shared yesterday during a meeting of Church personnel on the Social Teaching of the Church.

“We need to redeem the structures of government”, the archbishop told the gathering.

He said that before and during the war the churches were quite active but somehow they sat back after the peace was signed.

Archbishop Lukudu said the Church in South Sudan should not make the mistake of its brothers and sisters in South Africa who withdrew from public activism after apartheid was over.

He added that Catholic leaders and faithful have the duty to follow the Social Teachings of the Church in their public commitments.

He urged Christians to assist the government to redeem its own structures in order to build up a strong nation.
