Over 400 people were reported killed in clashes over cattle which started on June 15 in remote Pibor Count of Jonglei State.

Pibor County Executive Director Nakure Kereka told Bakhita Radio over the phone that more than 400 Murle people were killed and 35 wounded when Lou Nuer attacked Barnanam area within Pibor County.

He said the Nuer Lou attackers were from five counties within Jonglei state and they took many cattle with them.

Mr. Kereka appealed to the United Nations and the World Food Programme to assist the Murle people with much needed aid.

Mr. Kereka accused the attackers of working against the independence.
