The commissioner of Morobo County issued a request on Tuesday urging government officials, NGOs, companies and individuals to contribute for the Independence celebration due in two weeks.
Morobo County press secretary Data Moses said Commissioner Ofeni Ngota wrote that the celebrations were costly and vast reaching up to the bomas level and included various county departments, Easter Radio reported.The SPLM Secretary for Morobo Elly Dada formed the executive committee for the celebration.
One of the residents who preferred anonymity said he would not contribute anything even if he went to prison, because he was very poor.
The citizen added that the County should use the little money the government provided for the celebration.
