The SPLM said party officials’ houses were attacked by the Central Reserved Forces from Khartoum last night including that of Abdelaziz al-Hilu.
SPLM spokespersonYien Matthew told the press this morning in Juba, that the attacks on Mr. Abdelaziz and Ramadahn Hassan were intended to provoke hostilities on the SPLM leadership in South Sudan.
He added that the SPLM office was also shot at.
Fighting broke out on Sunday in Umm Dorain about 12 kilometres south east of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, one month before South Sudan is declared independent.
Mr. Yien said the NCP wants to endanger South Sudan’s independence and illustrate the SPLM as a failed party.
He confirmed that SPLM has reports on northern tanks and heavy artillery stationed in and around Kadugli regardless of UN’s call for their withdrawal.
Last week, SAF issued an ultimatum to the SPLA to move out of the states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile south of the 1956 border – created by the British at Sudan’s independence – or surrender their weapons.
