SPLM said it was concerned at the current alarming fuel shortage in the region largely due to the discontinued transportation of fuel from northern Sudan.

SPLM spokesperson Yien Matthew told the press that the order for a fuel blockade from Khartoum to southern Sudan came from president Omar al-Bashir.

Mr. Yien said the trucks are still forbiden to cross into the south adding that the blockade aims at instigating hatred among the people of South Sudan and illustrate that the SPLM is a failed government.

For the past month, South Sudan has been hit hard by high fuel prices in the market due to fuel shortage.
