Several Chinese delegations are visiting Eastern Equatoria to survey possibilities for investment in the region.
The Chinese investors are eyeing mineral resources and forestry management and expansion, Emmanuel Radio reported.Eastern Equatoria agriculture minister Jerome Surur Gama said some Chinese investors were targeting Greater Kapoeta to survey for minerals.
Mr. Surur said the Chinese investors were interested in exploring gold and platinum in Kapoeta.
He added that the state government wants to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the investors to avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Mr. Surur said the Chinese investors have also shown interest in teak and bamboo forests.
He said they also wanted to expand teak production in Eastern Equatoria.
Eastern Equatoria government officials including Governor Louis Lobong Lojore paid a visit to China last year in bid to win investors to the state.
