The Mayor of Juba met yesterday with officials from Kator, Juba and Munuki payams to discussed ways to form the city’s legislative council.
Mohammed Elhag Baballa said the legislative council is a very important body that will pass laws to govern the work of the City Council and approve the services to be given to residents, Bakhita Radio reported.Mr. Elhag said the City Council issued about 21 local orders in less than one month that will be amended and passed by the legislative board.
Juba Legislative Council will be composed by 35 members, including 12 each from Kator and Munuki, nine from Juba and two by appointment.
Officials from the three Payams were requested to present their members by Monday.
A quarter of representatives from each payam have to be women.
