ABYEI DISPLACED STILL NEED FOOD AND SHELTER

An aid worker operating from Agok said the displaced by the Abyei combats are still in need of food and shelter and the situation in the area remains quiet.

Raphael Gorgeu from MSF spoke with SCR News from Agok via mobile telephone. He said IDPs needed mostly food and shelter.

Mr. Gorgeu said that people left ten days ago but now they are returning to Agok since the area is calm.

He added that the there were about 30 thousand IDPs, mostly women and children, concentrated in Turalei, Mayen Abun, along the road Turalei-Agok and in Agok and surroundings.

Mr. Gorgeu said MSF is assisting displaced people in the Agok hospital.

The charity is also operating mobile health units across the region.
