The proposal of a rotating administration for Abyei should be submitted to the high committee discussing issues related to the region headed by the African Union, the SPLM said.

The Khartoum government laid out new proposals to resolve the conflict in Abyei region including a rotating administration.

However, the SPLM said that NCP should raise the proposal in the committee that is discussing the issue of Abyei.

GoSS spokesperson and information minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin told SCR News that the NCP should raise the proposal in the high committee that is chaired by President Thabo Mbeki.

According to the proposals announced yesterday, SAF forces should remain north of the Bahar al-Arab river and the SPLA south of the river, without participating in any administrative tasks until a final solution is reached through a referendum.

Abyei’s administration would be transferred to a joint committee on July 8.

UNMIS peacekeepers should be replaced an international force of African troops.
