The director of the UN Development Fund for Women said she hoped the Transitional Constitution guarantees protection to all women.
Lucy Lugunga told SCR News that the Interim Constitution of South Sudan had a section that protected women and the Transitional Constitution should have the same provisions. She cited provisions that allow women to decision making positions in order to defend the rights of their sisters.
Ms. Lugunga said the Constitution should also provide for the welfare of women like availing resources to make their life easier.
Women met last week to discuss the Transitional Constitution and how it has considered women’s interests.
