The initiative to empower returnees in Lakes State with agricultural kits including seeds and farming tools is being implemented under the auspices of various Non Governmental Organizations.
Abraham Mabor Mading, a social worker with Across, said that plans are underway to provide seeds and farming tools to returnees who have been settled in Rumbek Central, Yirol East and Yirol West.Mr. Mabor further revealed that there is a program to provide shelter to households, clarifying that this project targets the most vulnerable among the returnees like the aged, female headed households, underage family heads, widows and widowers.
He said there are 90 beneficiaries at Nyotic-Angui and that they expect to have all the 90 houses ready by the end of next month.
Mr. Mabor appealed to the entire community to integrate the returnees.
He urged the relevant government authorities to provide more land to the returnees to enable them implement this agricultural project satisfactorily, remarking that the returnees need the attention of the entire community, not only the NGOs.
It has been reported that OXFAM-GB has already distributed more than 5,000 kilograms and 1,000 packets of assorted seeds and tools respectively to 400 household.
