Juba residents reacted with various views to the SPLA twenty eighth Day celebrations.

The fest that took place in Nyakuron Cultural Centre was organized by the Central Equatoria Government under the theme “United to build a free independent South Sudan.”

Reggae artist Mario Bol from Unity state told SCR News that it was a great day to commemorate the SPLA together with the full separation from the North.

He added that he was glad to share the joy with his brothers and sisters in Juba.

Mary Kiden Zacharia, from Kajo Keji County, thanked the SPLA saying her heart was filled with happiness.

Civil Society Activist Carlo Arigo Wani said the SPLA Day was a build-up for the Independence celebration.

He added that the people of South Sudan were looking for independence and they are only 52 days away for the flag to be lifted up.

Miraya Radio presenter Maal Maker said it was important to recall that the first bullet of struggle was shot today and pay tribute to the martyrs for freedom, peace and stability in South Sudan.

Mr. Maal expressed concern over lack of freedom in South Sudan.

He explained that for him freedom means security, transparency and development.

Mr. Maker asked how people can talk of freedom while others are suffering in and the SPLA forces are not receiving their salaries.
