The Catholic bishop of Yei yesterday ordained to the diaconate a Comboni Missionary from his diocese.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe ordained Philip Andruga Kenyi as deacon during a very colourful and participated ceremony at a packed Christ the King Cathedral in Yei.Bishop Lodu said during his homily that the ordination should lead other youths to accept a life of service in the Church as priests or religious sisters and brothers.
Deacon Andruga studied theology in Brazil and is doing his missionary service in the parish of Lomin, Kajo Keji, after an experience in Old Fangak, Jonglei state.
His provincial superior announced during the celebration that he will be ordained priest on November 20.
In the same ceremony, seminarian Mude Pascal of Yei was accepted as a candidate to the Holy Orders.
He will be a deacon on November 20.
The event was attended by representatives from the Comboni Missionaries and Comboni Missionary Sisters in South Sudan, local clergy, government officials, traditional leaders and a huge crowd inside and outside the cathedral.
