The Archbishop of Khartoum Catholic Archdiocese, Michael Didi Adgum Mangoria on Tuesday arrived in Wau ahead Bishop Conference scheduled to take place on the 26th of this month.
He says the conference is conducted in Wau due to the conflict in Sudan that affected millions of people who were displaced from their homes.
The Archbishop further reported that most faithful, priests and sisters have evacuated Khartoum the capital city of Sudan due to the ongoing conflict between the Sudan Army Force and the Rapid Support Force.
“We are having our preliminary meeting here in Wau which we were supposed to be in Khartoum but unfortunately what is happening in Khartoum the war the situation there could not allow it so we brought it to Wau and also the opening of the Eucharist congress’’ he adds.
Bishop Mangoria urges the people of Wau to be strong in the faith because Bahr el Ghazal region is the Catholic area according to the missionary’s district in 1903.
His Grace Micheal Didi Adgum Mangoria says that the situation of believers in Khartoum is quite difficult pointing out that many people left Khartoum city.
‘‘We have a big community of Silesian sisters and fathers in Don-Bosco in Shajara Khartoum South they are still there with some people, whenever there is a fighting people run to the sister’s compound and remain there’’ he narrates.
Didi Adgum Mangoria mentions that there is one priest of St. Peter and Paul Father Thomas who went to Hai Yousif and three other priests ran to Omdurman due to security in Khartoum City.
