A youth group has called upon GoSS leadership to handle the current political and military tensions with a quick sense of urgency, courage and ingenuity to avoid further escalations of violence.

Nhial Jacob Deng, who heads the National Youth Alliance in South Sudan (NYASS), told the press yesterday evening that the group was alluding to the constitutional development crises between the SLPM and other political parties, land issues, corruption, nepotism and the uprising rebellions of George Athor, Gatluak Gai and others.

Mr. Jacob said NYASS does not want a partisan constitution that will remain flawed and contested.

He added that the youth needs an inclusive constitution because the fundamental law is the basis of the nation.

NYASS suggested the parties invited impartial foreign experts to draw the Constitution.

Mr. Jacob added that issues political parties disagree over like power sharing should be put to a vote.

The youth condemned voices from abroad suggesting that South Sudan is likely to face genocide in the near future.

They said in case it happens the youth group shall hold the government responsible for failing to meet its duties.

NYASS is a youth group formed in March last year to look into issues affecting the young.
