About 3,000 people have left Kosti river port for South Sudan this morning with their belongings on board of nine barges.

GoSS minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management James Kok Ruea told journalists upon his arrival at Juba International Airport that he visited Khartoum and Kosti to oversee the departure of the 3,000 returnees from North to South.

He said most of the families were from the three states of the Greater Equatoria and the rest from Lakes and Jonglei.

Mr. Kok added that his ministry will work with the state governments to coordinate efforts to settle the returnees.
