GoSS minister of agriculture admitted that the distribution of tractors to farmers in South Sudan was a total failure due to lack of support services and money.
Ann Itto Leonardo told journalists yesterday that the tractors’ distribution project was not working. She said more than 450 tractors out of 500 or so given to small scale farmers or co-operatives were parked under trees due to lack of spare parts to repair the machines or money to buy fuel.
Dr. Itto added that her ministry will stop distributing tractors and instead will work to provide technical support to farmers.
