A group of French charities visiting the country urged governments to practice good governance and democracy.
Research analyst of African civil societies Mathilde Beuriot told journalists in Torit that governments should respect democracy and human rights, Emmanuel Radio reported.Ms. Beuriot says the visiting delegation would raise awareness about South Sudan with the French government.
She added that few people in France knew about South Sudan, and the new country needs long term support.
The French analyst said Caritas France and other organizations have been in a 20-year partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
Caritas France and other member organizations of Caritas Internationalis help various development projects in the Catholic Diocese of Torit, including schools, health, water and sanitation, and food security.
