Eastern Equatoria governor praised the Catholic Diocese of Torit for excelling in providing services to the people in the region during war time.
Louis Lobong Lojore told a visiting delegation of French charity groups that the Catholic diocese helped to sustain education and health systems and provided water to the communities, Emmanuel Radio reported.Mr. Lobong stressed that other NGOs were involved in providing services as well.
He said the government took over activities implemented by the other organizations, but the diocese continued where government resources were not enough.
The French delegation made of bishops, priests and a MP among others arrived in Torit on Tuesday and visited projects in Isohe Catholic mission on Wednesday morning before meeting the state governor in the evening.
The visitors who are members of Caritas France are in the diocese for a fact finding mission.
Caritas France is a member of Caritas Internationalis and a partner to the Catholic Diocese of Torit supporting a number of community based projects run by the diocese.
