A group of practitioners took part in a workshop on the use of natural medicine consisting of plants combined with modern therapies to treat common ailments.

Facilitator Lianna Ajak told Good News Radio that the event aimed at introducing the participants to natural medicine while considering the use of modern medicine.

She said the two-day training focused on malaria and diarrhoea, their signs and symptoms, prevention and treatment combining herbal and modern medicine.

Facilitator John Malook Mayom said the use of plants in medicine has been ordered by God.

He quoted the Scriptures where the Lord tells human beings to use leaves, fruits, roots and even the bark of the plants for food and medicine.

The workshop was held under the theme “Natural Medicine: Treatment of Common Ailments and the use of some Important Plants in South Sudan.”

The 40 participants received a booklet on natural healing in Dinka language.
