The Economy and Finance Committee at the South Sudan Assembly today tabled the second reading of the 2011 GoSS Budget to the members of parliament.

Professor Bari Wanji, who heads the committee, said the 2011 budget amounts to 5.7 billion Sudanese Pounds.

He added that 98 percent of the revenue comes from the oil industry.

Prof. Wanji said the government spends 43 percent on salaries, 33 percent on operations and the rest goes to capital.

Prof. Wanji noted that the expenditure trend is faster than what the government collects.

He mentioned that if the government spends all oil revenues without reserves and investment, it will be condemned as irresponsible.

The 2011GoSS Budget is expected to be passed next week.
