Eastern Equatoria Assembly has passed with amendments the referendum report for Lafon/Lopa County.

The report was the second to be presented to the House, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Major issues raised in the report included the need for urgent provision of food to starving communities in Lafo/Lopa and the need to construct roads linking the state to the county.

The committee called for co-operation between South Sudan Members of Parliament and their counterparts in the state in issues of the country.

The recommendations followed the many challenges MPs experienced during the referendum campaigns.

Bad roads, cattle raiding, food shortage and destruction of crops by fire were at the top of the challenges’ list.

The committee said the MP who represents Lafon in South Sudan Assembly did not cooperate with the state mobilization team and he put a SPLM trainer in prison without due cause.
