Lainya County’s immigration officer carried out this morning an operation to assess the number of foreigners with valid documents living in the region.

Lainya county press secretary Lugala Bullen told Easter Radio over the phone that the operation was carried out jointly by Police and Wildlife forces.

Mr. Bullen said some foreigners had expired documents and they were still living in the region.

The secretary added that the chairman of the Ugandan community in Lainya said he will talk to their offices in Kampala to release the compatriots in prison due to lack of valid papers.

Mr. Bullen said one detainee was in the county for five years and she needed the nationality card to prove her identity.

Five Ugandans were arrested this morning in Lainya County for holding expired permits.
