A university student asked graduates to help decentralizing development in South Sudan by making good use of local resources through the knowledge they gained during years of training.
James Thiey Tuok, a finalist in the Faculty of Human Development at Upper Nile University, appealed to South Sudanese graduates to assist local communities to use the available resources by themselves instead of waiting for government or NGOs’ assistance.Mr. Thiey explained that if development is not decentralized people will end up overcrowding cities.
He added that big places cause problems to services delivery.
Mr. Thiey added that if services are provided to the local population in the rural areas, it will discourage migration from rural to urban areas.
