The University of Juba may not be able start the new academic year in April due to lack of lecture halls and lecturers.
This is the opinion voiced by many students after the administration of the University postponed the reopening for April.Information Secretary of Juba University Students’ Union Michael Malek told SCR News that lack of budget is delaying works at the Belinga and Customs lecture halls.
Mr. Malek added that more than half of the lecturers are northerners and many are not willing to move from Khartoum to Juba.
Wojo Samuel Samson who studies Natural Resources in the Department of Agriculture said he doubted if the new academic year would start in April.
Mr. Samuel blamed the administration for the slow process of renovation and construction of mush needed lecture halls.
Ramadan Taban Abrama Lila, a student of natural resources at the Animal Production Department, said the forth-year results are not out yet and students cannot transit to year five.
Last week, the administration of the University of Juba told SCR News that the higher learning institution was planning to open the new academic year in April after some new lecture rooms were finished.
