The head of UNDP said that meeting the expectations of the people in an independent south Sudan will be the greatest challenge.
Talking to SCR News, Joe Feeney said that people have a right to expect real change in their lives after the decades of war.He added that after the establishment of a new state, southerners will expect meaningful change from the government.
Mr. Feeney said an effective government is the only way to meet the peoples’ expectations.
He added that an effective government from day one is crucial to avoid a struggling government and to enable people benefit the people of South Sudan from independence.
UNDP is trying to help the government identify and address core functions like security and the rule of law and management of public finances.
