The South Sudan parliament reopened today with the referendum dominating the speeches.
Speaker James Wani Igga told MPs, diplomats and the international community, that the success of the referendum shows south Sudan’s political maturity.He said the referendum can be held as a worldwide model.
Speaker Wani also called on the international community to lift sanctions and pardon Sudan’s debt after the NCP recognizes the outcome of the referendum.
On his part, GoSS president Salva Kiir Mayardit described the polling as the last bullet of the struggle and called for patience until it hits the target, the announcement of the results.
The president asked the assembly to pass quickly the 2011 budget which should be more comprehensive, encompassing and aggressive to respond to the upcoming financial demands.
