A sports tournament kicked off in Tonj, Warrap State, to celebrate the massive turnout of the community in the county during the referendum voting.
County sports manager Acuil Deng said the commissioner organized and sponsored the competition to fill the time until the results are announced, Don Bosco FM reported.He added that the commissioner bought two trophies for the tournament and offered his car to transport the teams from remote payams.
Mr. Acuil Deng said 12 teams compete in the football tournament and eight in basketball.
He added that any one who can play is welcomed.
The winners will get a trophy while the better players receive a motivation fee.
Mr. Deng said a ten-member disciplinary committee headed by the commissioner was formed to deal with indiscipline cases among players.
He added that he expects the tournament to end peacefully.
Mr. Deng encouraged southerners to organize sports activities as they wait for the referendum results to entertain the citizens.
