JUBA PRISONERS VOTE IN REFERENDUM POLLS

Over 500 inmates serving their sentences at Juba Prison are voting in the referendum.

SCR News spoke to Chol Nyong who was condemned for murder. He said that his detention cannot stop him from voting.

Mr. Chol said the prison condition is not good.

He added that voters are giving full authority to the government of South Sudan and he was happy to vote.

Patrick Demabela, the prison chief, said that more than half of the 500 plus registrants have voted already.

Mr. Demabela added that a few inmated who ended their prison terms and were released should turn up at the prison to vote.

The voting period concludes on Saturday.
