The referendum authorities announced today that voters registered for the referendum in Australia may get some extra days to cast their ballots due to the huge floods that affected parts of the country.

The head of Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau Chan Reec Madut said this afternoon that his Khartoum chief Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil arrives tomorrow in Juba to follow the last days of voting.

Justice Reec said South Sudan may not need any voting extension and the officials should start counting the ballots on Saturday evening after the polling centres close.

Justice Reec confirmed that by Wednesday evening over 2.3 million had already cast their vote and the referendum threshold was already crossed validating the final result.
