One Lakes Sate polling centre is lagging behind the South Sudan turnout and only 42 percent of its registrants voted after four days.
Mark Lueth Mading, who heads the Marial Akeng Polling Centre of Cueibet County in Lakes State, told Good News Radio that only 448 people had so far voted out of the 1,067 who registered.Mr. Lueth said some voters have to walk up to four hours to vote.
Cueibet County Commissioner assigned a vehicle to ferry people from remote villages and Mr. Lueth was confident that all registrants would vote within the remaining days.
Meanwhile, Cueibet Town Polling Centre had more people voting on Monday than on Sunday.
Makoi David Makoi, who leads the centre, said that 478 voters cast their ballots on Sunday and 772 turned up to vote on Monday.
Some voters have to walk for up to 12 miles to get to the polling centre.
Mr. Makoi acknowledged the efforts by the Referendum Taskforce team to mobilize the people and appealed to those who have not yet voted to do it.
The turnout at Kubur William, Matangai and Achol Theen voting centres by yesterday was well over 83 percent.
