The main polling station in Tonj town, Warrap State, is empty after over 90 percent of its registered voters have already cast their ballots.

More than 2500 people voted out of over 2,700 registrants and there were no queues at the voting centre since yesterday, Don Bosco FM reported.

Gabriel Thiep, who heads the centre, said only 70 voters cast their ballots this morning but the total could reach 120 at the end of the day.

Mr. Gabriel urged the county authorities, community leaders and county referendum authorities to trace citizens who did not vote to urge them to take part in the pool.

He advised people to leave their own duties and come for voting since it does not take much time.

Mr. Thiep said the polling officials have no food and drinking water in the centre since the beginning.

He added that their contract is not shown to them yet.

Mr. Gabriel said that the polling officials were working in difficult conditions to achieve their freedom and for that reason they stood put.

Tonj South County has some 80 thousand residents but only 14 thousand are 18 years old of above.
