Catholic Diocese of Rumbek trains Catechists on effective evangelization

The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek on Monday began training 65 catechists to empower them on effective evangelizations at all levels.
 
According to Good News Radio, all 65 catechists came from six parishes of the diocese.
 
Diocesan Coordinator Monsignor John Mathiang Machol saying the five-day course is to equip the catechists with the knowledge to be able to teach the word of God with faith, love and unity of the Catholic Church.
 
The house of God will not shine without catechists because they are the backbone of the church, Monsignor Mathiang explains.
 
‘Share with me some of the challenges that you’re facing and how we can address them to carry on with the mission of the lord that is given to us. You know very well that you’re the backbone of the church. Having Catechist, they’re the one who can carry on with the mission. Even when there were no missionaries in the area, when the missionaries were expel, they were the Catechist who remain to teach the people until the Missionaries came back later’ says Monsignor Mathiang.
 
The speaker made the remarks to Good News Radio on Monday during the opening of the training in Rumbek.
