A South African Cardinal who was in Juba to observe the referendum vote urged Southerners to build up a common vision to put together their future as a nation.

Cardinal Wilfred Napier of Durban said the whole community should be involved in constructing a common value system to bring progress.

Cardinal Napier said education will play a big role to help people to understand the challenges they face and how to meet them.

Cardinal Napier added that South Sudan needs to put into place a system to promote the human dignity to overcome the trauma suffered during the violence of war.

The Archbishop of Durban returned today to South Africa after a five-day stay in Juba to monitor the vote on self-determination.
