Cardinal Wilfred Napier from South Africa and Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba blessed this morning the new transmitter system and the 72-meter mast of Bakhita Radio.

Cardinal Napier led the congregation in a prayer of blessing. He blessed the transmitter; the new mast erected next to the Bakhita compound and blessed the radio staff as well.

The Cardinal and the Archbishop commented on the powerful means the Church has to carry out the evangelizing mission of the Church.

Sr. Cecilia Sierra, a Mexican Comboni Sister is the Directress of Bakhita Radio. She briefed the Cardinal on the outreach attained by the new mast and commented on the advantages of having studios and transmitter in one place.

She stated that the new antenna allows the Voice of the Church to reach wide and bold in most areas in Greater Equatoria.

Sr Cecilia declared that besides boosting the signal, the installation of a 72 meter mast in the premises of Bakhita Radio reduces the fuel bill and allows an increase in broadcasting hours.

Bakhita Radio extended broadcasting hours and it is on air from 6:00 AM to midnight.

For the last two months, an Italian engineer and a Comboni brother have worked hard to assemble the new mast and relocate the transmitter system from the cathedral bell tower in Kator to the radio compound.
