The problem of land in Juba is hindering the development of structures to support the government of South Sudan.

The alert comes from Secretary General of the Government of Southern Sudan Abdon Agaw Jok.

Mr. Agaw told the press yesterday that land issues restricted a quicker expansion of GoSS preventing the government from building all the structures needed to house its institutions.

Mr. Agaw announced that next year GoSS would build offices and houses to accommodate civil servants and ministers.

Mr. Agaw said the issue of land is a major problem that so far has not been solved amicably.

He added that the land issue needs to be discussed at different levels including at the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly.

However, Mr. Agaw said the issue of land was not an immediate priority for the government and should not be on the table for the next four months.
