The State Ministry of Agriculture and non-governmental organizations organized one day food security meeting in Tonj on how to store and manage food commodities.

Acting Minister Abak Yel Madot asks the NGOs to cooperate with the government to serve communities with agricultural tools to plant for themselves instead of waiting for aid, Radio Don Bosco reports.

Adimol Manyuol, Grassroots’ Assistant Area Coordinator, appreciates communities for cultivating more food crops this year with the help of NGOs in Tonj State.

Andrea Adup Akoc Wol, Director-General in the ministry, says that the long term food crops got dry in some parts of Tonj because rain stopped early this year.

The organization made an effort to help the Tonj State to cultivate tomatoes, guava and sugarcane which made some communities to have enough food for the year.
