SAF ATTACKS SPLA TO DERAIL REFERENDUM, SAYS OFFICER

South Sudan Army said northern helicopter gunships attacked one of its bases in Northern Bahr el Ghazal wounding six people.

SPLA spokesperson Philip Aguer told SCR News over the phone that SAF helicopters bombed an SPLA base in Kiiradhan around midday of today, injuring four soldiers and two civilians.

Aweil North County Commissioner, Kuol Athuai, confirmed the attack.

Mr. Athuai spoke of four wounded.

Mr. Aguer added that SAF was trying to bring the SPLA back to war in order to derail the referendum process.

He added that the SPLA would not answer SAF’s provocations and it was cooling its forces down.
