The presidency will meet on Saturday in Khartoum to iron out differences and settle the Abyei issue.
SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum told reporters today that the meeting between Omar Hassan al Bashir and Salva Kiir Mayardit will pave the way for a lasting solution to the Abyei region.Mr. Amum added that NCP has taken Abyei hostage and uses it to extort concessions from the south and from the international community, including the USA.
Mr. Amum noted that the SPLM is hopeful that the meeting may result in a breakthrough in the Abyei negotiations and end the anxiety of the Ngok Dinka people.
The delegation led by GoSS president Salva Kiir Mayardit returned today from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia after attending a IGAD summit on the CPA implementaion.
SPLM officials met with the NCP delegation to find ways to implement the Abyei protocol.
