The government of South Sudan announced it will deregister companies that were are not operating in the region.
The inspection on non-operating registered companies starts next week in Central Equatoria to expand to other states in the South, Bakhita Radio reported.Undersecretary in GoSS Ministry of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Development, Jeremiah Swaka, told the press yesterday that the Business Registry would launch a campaign to inspect the registered but non-operative businesses.
Justice Swaka explained that the non-operating businesses would lose their certificates of registration through deregistration.
Justice Swaka lamented that there are over 1000 businesses, NGOs, associations and companies registered in the ministry but few are operational.
He revealed that no other fine would be given to the non operating entities, except to lose legal certificates.
Justice Swaka concluded that GoSS is losing revenue because most businesses and companies do not pay their annual return.
