Catholic diocesan leaders are being trained on justice and reconciliation skills to bring lasting peace in their areas especially during the critical referendum process.

Over sixty participants, including priests, religious sisters and lay people, started last evening in Juba a one-week long training under the theme reconciliation for a just and lasting peace for diocesan leaders.

Cathy Arata is part of Solidarity with Southern Sudan, one of the organizers of the event. She told SCR News participants would be thought the spirituality and skills of peace building and reconciliation.

Sr. Cathy said she hoped the participants would acquire enough skills to help solving conflicts in their communities.

Sr. Cathy said the main speaker is a well known American theologian, Robert Schrider.

The workshop on reconciliation and peace building is part of the 101 Days of Prayer for a Peaceful Referendum in Sudan.
