Gender minister urges line ministries to observe gender mainstreaming

The national minister of gender, child and social welfare has urged line ministries to observe gender mainstreaming policies and programmes.
 
Awut Deng Acuil, says gender mainstreaming as it has been used internationally to ensure programmes, policies and projects of governments respond to gender needs.
 
She appeals to gender committee in the parliament to consider the budget allocations and sensibly observe gender balance, Radio Bakhita reports.
 
Funmi Balogun, country representative of the UN women explains that people who acquire skills on gender mainstreaming should understand the impact of the decisions they take.
 
Meanwhile, Ambassador Moses Akol Ajawin, director general of international cooperation in the ministry of foreign affairs says his ministry does observe gender mainstreaming.
 
The officials were speaking during a two days’ training workshop of selected government institutions in Juba.
