The head of Lakes State Referendum High Committee expressed optimism about the ongoing voter registration exercise despite some challenges.
Michael Mabor Makuei told Good News Radio that the registration exercise started well in all the 215 referendum centres of Lakes State.Mr. Mabor explained that two referendum centres were claimed by two different counties but the “haggling” was solved and registration started in both places.
Mr. Mabor said that according to reports the turn up in increasing with some centres registering over 3000 voters in one day.
He added that the Committee received 30 satellite phones to communicate with remote areas in the state.
Mr. Mabor urged the Referendum Taskforce and the civil societies to engage in voter awareness activities.
The head of Lakes State Referendum High Committee encouraged eligible members to turn up and exercise their civic right by registering for the referendum.
