A referendum centre official is demanding signed contracts guarantying food and pay during the registration period.
Juba University Referendum Centre supervisor Duku Francis Sebit told SCR News that referendum staffs did not sign any formal contract on the amount of money each was to get after the registration was completed.Mr. Sebit said the referendum officials wanted to avoid the problems over payments that took place during the elections with the police beating up protesters asking for their salaries.
He added that the referendum officials did not get any food or drink either.
Mr. Sebit explained the referendum staff wanted to meet with the county authorities to ensure the contract was finalized before the registration ended.
