Regional Force will support humanitarian access, says UNMISS Chief

The arrival of the fist contingent of the Regional Protection Force to Juba is a great opportunity to allow UNMISS to reach to more civilians, says the head of United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS.
 
David Shearer told journalists on Tuesday in Juba that the force will operate in surrounding areas and protect nationals and support provision of humanitarian access.
 
Shearer notes that the force will help UNMISS and the national government to secure areas that has been experiencing insecurity.
 
The four thousand regional troops was passed by the UN security Council in July last year to come and assist UNMISS to protect civilians and key installations in South Sudan.
 
The 150 troops from Rwanda of first contingent arrived in Juba late last week.
 
The Head of UNMISS was speaking to Journalist on Tuesday during the official reception of the troops.
