At least 40 people were killed and 50 others wounded in a communal fighting between Waat and Ayel in Gok State, confirms senior government official in the state.
Isaac Mayom Malek, Minster of Local Government says the 53 injuries were admitted into three different health facilities due to the sensitivity of the issue.
Malek reveals that they held a meeting of the state security committee on Monday chaired by Governor, Madhang Majok and strongly condemned the incident.
He said joint forces were deployed along the border between the two sections, while the government works to identify criminals on both sides to bring them to the book.
Members of the committee formed by Governor Majok are still assembling facts through local chiefs in the area and might take some days, says Peter Anyoun Dut, Cuiebet County Commissioner.
Both Dut and Malek call on citizens to remain calm as the government is trying to investigate the causes and evaluate the loss during the revenge attack.
Late last July, Governor Majok declared curfew restricting any movement of youth within streets after the inter-communal violence between Waat and Yiel that claimed 20lives and left 18 others wounded.
