Learners in Tonj schools on Monday resumed their lessons after three weeks holidays, says Director-General in Tonj Ministry of Education.

Koloktuol Konybai Madhol says all students in the 312 schools in the state are expected to begin their normal lessons, Radio Don Bosco reports.

He says the teaching for second term is projected to end on August 26 and exams start on 28 of the same month.

Konybai mentions lack of learning materials especially textbooks as one of the major challenges affecting education in Tonj State.

Most of the committed teachers have gone to work in NGOs because of low pay, the director adds.

He encourages all teachers in the country to help their brothers and sisters as things will change when peace comes.

Head teacher of Ding Ading Primary School, Edward Thokriel Mawien, urges all students in the state to resume their studies because lessons started on Monday.

He stresses that only few students have turned up, but he expects the rest to come soon.
