Medical staff working at the Tuberculosis Ward in Yei Civil Hospital went on strike this morning demanding their salaries.
Agnes Nyoka, a clinical officer for the TB program, told Easter Radio that the staff did not receive their October salaries yet.She added that their contracts with Malteser International ended and GoSS Ministry of Health said in an email that their names were already in its payroll.
Ms. Nyoka said the staff wants to work but needs the salary.
Nurse Likambu Martin said the names of TB staff did not appear in the payroll and they were told to wait.
Malteser International handed over the TB program to GOSS Ministry of Health and to Yei Civil hospital in June 2010.
