The United Democratic Party is to carry out a door-to-door campaign to advocate for separation in the upcoming Southern Sudan referendum for self-determination.

UDF deputy secretary general, John Orelio Onywang Koluo Okech, told Emmanuel Radio that party officials will move from county to county, village to village and home to home to urge voters to choose independence in the January 9, 2011 referendum.

Mr. Okech added that the UDF has always been working for full independence since its foundations and the party does not advocate for anything less than separation.

He made these statements in Torit after meeting with local UDF members.

Eastern Equatoria UDF Chairman Joseph Sebit Quarto urged Eastern Equatorians to achieve with determination the goals of their ancestor who started the struggle for an independent South Sudan with the 1955 Torit Uprising.
