An official called on Juba residents and traders to pay for the cleaning of the county through a garbage collection fee.

Sebit Amosa Tongun is the chief public health inspection in Juba County. He told SCR News that residents within the county must pay a monthly fee of 20 pounds in first class and 10 pounds in second class residential areas for rubbish collection while traders should clean the markets daily.

Mr. Amosa lamented that many residents and traders failed to pay their garbage taxes to Juba County authorities.

He added that it was illegal to throw away any kind of waste.

Mr. Amosa urged residents to contact the Keep Juba Clean companies or the county authorities to have their own litter removed.

Mr. Amosa reminded residents that it was a common practice all over the world to ask residents to pay for public maintenance.

He revealed that his office would device a way to deal with those who refuse to pay the garbage collection fee.

Mr. Amosa called on the Central Equatoria and Southern Sudan governments to assist Juba County with keeping the area clean.
